DAY TRIP FROM FES TO VOLUBILIS AND MEKNES
You will start from Fes around 9:30 Am and drive first to Volubilis , the drive is around one hour and a half .At the foot of the Jebel Zerhoun like the Roman ruins of Volubilis .The site was inhabited during the Neolithic period and was occupied by the Carthaginians and then by the Romans ,developing a thriving oil trade around 40 BC. You will go with a local guide to take you inside the explain you about the history of the site and see like the house of Orpheus ,the house of Dionysus , the Decumanus Maximus and Triumphal Arch and so on .After the visit of the Roman city you will drive around 35 Kilometers to Meknes .Lunch in a local restaurant in Meknes.
You will visit the old city which is surrounded by about 25 miles of triple ramparts .First , low wall was designed to stop horsemen .The second ,higher wall was to prevent foot soldiers entering the city .The third ,even higher ,stopped for anyone who had managed to surmount the first two obstacles .You will visit also the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum ,the founder of the city .And the famous ,beautiful Bab Mansour.
