Day trip from Marrakech to Ourika valley

Explore the Ourika Valley in the closest day trip from Marrakech. We drive from our city hotel towards the Atlas Mountains, enjoying the beautiful landscape of green meadows and authentic Berber villages during your Day trip from Marrakech to Ourika valley via Asni.

DAY TRIP FROM MARRAKECH TO OURIKA VALLEY VIA ASSNI AND SIDI FARES VALLEY

You will start this day trip from your Hotel or riad around 8:30 Am .You will drive like 1 hour in stop in Lalla Takerkoust, a manmade lake, on the edge of the Agafay Desert that was built under the French Protectorate between 1929- 1935 to provide Marrakech and the surrounding cities with electricity as well as to irrigate the agricultural fields in the plain of Haouz. And after that , you will drive up to the mountains and you will have a stop to drink a cup of tea with a Berber family then continue to Assni via the Kik plateau which faces you to the view of the highest point in north Africa Toubkal ( 4165 miters altitude ). Then descend to Assni village ,you will have a walk by yourself in the small traditional souk of Assni then drive to the Sidi Fares valley .

The valley of Sidi Farés is a very beautiful virgin valley with beautiful contrasting landscapes which is not known by mass tourism .You will drive by many Berber villages on the high points in the mountains then descend to Ourika valley.  Sixty kilometers of road will be filled with gardens, land cultivated by palm tree plantations and fruit trees, tiny hamlets, summer homes, and cafes and restaurants where it is possible to have lunch in a traditional auberge or if you prefer something more key, a picnic facing the snow capped mountain and overlooking the Ourika River.

Moving through the valley we will visit Setti Fatma, a favorite weekend resort of many Marrakshis that is appreciated for its beautiful streams and waterfalls. Before returning to Marrakech, option to trek along some of the pretty trails . If you seek adventure, climbing up rock carvings, gorges, and crests is an option. And on the way back to Marrakech, Your driver will stop and browse at local crafts and other Moroccan treasures.
