4 day Sahara desert tour from Marrakech to Fes .
Experience the essence of Morocco! This is a tour for those who want to see Morocco's sites thoroughly. Visit several amazing locations that will give you both a Atlas mountains and Sahara desert experience..
DAY 1: MARRAKECH TO OUARZAZATE VIA THE HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS, TELOUET AND AIT BEN HADDOU KASBAH.
You will meet your English speaking driver at your riad or Hotel in Marrakech to start your Sahara desert trip. Just as you drive 55 Kilomters from Marrakech, you will arrive the foothills of the High Atlas mountains where you will start to climb up . You will drive through the windy road and pass via many Berber villages and you will stop on the way for taking photos and breaks .And after you will pass through the highest pass of Tizi –N-Tichka pass which is 2260 meters altitude .
And just few kilometers after the pass, you will drive through the ancient route of the camel caravans which relate the south to the north. And on the way, you will visit the Telouet Kasbah which was the seat of the El Glaoui family's power, thus sometimes also called the Palace of Glaoui, and it was built in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Lunch in a restaurant nearby the Kasbah to taste the Morocan Tajin with figs, wall nut and almonds . Then go on the journey to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou , the mention is one of the oldest Kasbahs in Morocco and it is a UNSCO site since 1987. And today it is a place where many famous international movies were shot .You will go for a walk inside the Kasbah and visit a Berber family as 10 families still in the Kasbah and also to walk to the top of the hill or a nice view. After the visit of the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah , you will drive to Ouarzazate “The Moroccan Hollywood “. You will have chance to visit one of the studios or a museum .And before you go to your hotel , you will go for a picture for the Tawrirt Kasbah in the city center . Overnight in a hotel.
DAY 2: OUARZAZATE TO THE DADES VALLEY VIA SKOURA , ROSE VALLEY ,OFF-ROAD TO NOMAD CAVES THEN TO THE DADES VALLEY .
After breakfast , you will be ready for an authentic Berber journey to the Dades valley .On the way ,you will start with the oasis of Skoura where you will go to visit the 17 Century Kasbah of Ameridel then continue to the rose valley .You will stop by a rose cooperative to see how they distillate the roses and make rose perfumes, soap from it and other cosmetics .
From the town of Kelaa Mgouna you will drive further up through the rose valley and from the village of Boutghrar you will take an off-road trail to see Nomad families living in caves with their sheep and goats . You will stop by a cave and go to visit the family and see how they live in the cave also drink a cup of tea with them. The off-road trail ends up in the Dades valley where you will drive up to the Dades gorge for an overnight in a hotel .
DAY 3: THE DADES VALLEY TO SAHARA DESERT VIA TODGH GORGE, TINJDAD AND ERFOUD .
Today‘s journey is going to be to the Sahara desert of Merzouga . You will start around 9:00 Am and drive towards the town of Boumalne Dades , on the way you will stop for some photos like in the Monkey feet mountain and for some panoramic views . After the town of Boumalne Dades , you will drive to Todgha valley and when you get there you will go for a walk of like 30 minutes in the palm grove before you head to visit the Todgha gorge to see it high cliffs where many tourist from different places in the world do rock climbing .
You will walk inside the Gorge around 30 minutes then drive back to the main road to as to drive straight to the desert .Lunch will be some on the way in Tinjdad or in Toureg then pass through the city of Erfoud and from here the Sahara desert of Merzouga is like 55 Kilometers away .When you reach the golden sand dunes you will have a cup of mint tea for relaxation then go for the camel ride which will be around 1 hour and 20 minutes from the starting point . Overnight in a camp in the middle of the sand dunes .
DAY 4: SAHARA DESERT DESERT TO FES .
The trip to Fes this day is going to be around 8 and a half drive including all the stops for beaks and lunch .Early in the morning at the camp you will wake up 20 minutes before the sunrise and climb up a sand dune to enjoy the sun as it is coming up to the sky from the horizon and after that you will ride back the camel to a hotels on the edge of the sand dunes for shower and breakfast .
And after that you will travel to Fes through the Tafilate oasis and stop for a great view and toilet in the Ziz valley then go on to Midelt through Rich where you will stop for lunch .Just as you travel to the Moroccan Swiss style city of Ifrane you will stop by the middle atlas forest of Azrou to see the Barbary apes climbing up and down the trees and you will feed them banana ,pee nut in case you want to take photos nearby them and the drive to Ifrane for a toilet break and a walk around this unique ,beautiful city .After the break , you will drive to Fes where the trip will end .Drop off somewhere nearby your riad .
